YOU NEED:

♥ COLOR. For example, you could use these types of paint: basecoat paint, concrete paint, acrylic-silicone paint, some chalk paints, paver paint, or concrete stain.

♥ A roller or brush, possibly a paint tray

♥ STENCIL

How do you actually stencil concrete slabs, patio slabs, or outdoor concrete floors?

Start by brushing the area you want to paint. Old stones can also be cleaned first with a wire brush. You can also use a pressure washer, but everything must be dry before painting.

Place your stencil on the concrete slabs. You can weigh the stencil down with a few small stones or other weights to keep it in place.

Now it's time to paint. If you're using a brush or roller, use a brush or roller that's as dry as possible to achieve a clean pattern. Once you've painted all the empty spaces, carefully remove the stencil.

Leave some areas with less or no color for a vintage-style effect.

 

You can first paint the slabs with a base color and then stencil with a second color. You can also leave your stones natural—whatever you prefer. For a seating area with an old, very unattractive concrete floor, it’s best to first paint it with a base coat, for example white, and then stencil with black.
