Inspiration: Dresser Upcycling

I was hoping to find this dresser in the basement, but it was in our bedroom 🙈 ... Now I finally wanted to give it a modern update. 😃

It’s an old piece of furniture of good quality that I want to keep for many more years. The dresser is made of real wood, so painting it is very easy.

So, I bought chalk paint, really dark blue. That’s exactly how I want it.

I love blue. Dark blue and smoky blue. I don’t use blue very often, but in the bedroom it goes really well with my smoky blue linen curtains and the light beige walls. I also painted over my gold mirror with silver paint so it matches the rest. Here is my color palette:

Then I sanded the dresser, removed the old knobs, and then I could paint it completely. 

I wasn't sure what kind of knobs I wanted, so I tried out a few alternatives. But I ended up with these somewhat "boring" little antique silver knobs because my style is very traditional. I like things that look a little old or used. It's nice when you can't really tell if they're old or new. Here were my alternatives:

Antique bronze buttons are my favorites, but then I’d need some wood accents—maybe a lamp or something—to tie the color in with the rest of the room.

 

Silver furniture knobs. These are really nice! But too shiny for this room, so I went with antique silver:

Finally. My dresser is finished! I'm really happy with it. 😀
